The Lego Technic Bugatti isn’t just about raw power; it’s a testament to aerodynamic efficiency. With its striking low-slung profile, enormous rear wing, and advanced aerodynamic features, the Bolide generates immense downforce, hugging the track and delivering unparalleled stability even at blistering speeds.

Inside the cabin, luxury meets performance. The Bugatti Bolide’s cockpit is a symphony of high-quality materials and ergonomic design, offering a driver-focused experience that complements its extreme capabilities.

The prototype | LEGO Technic Bugatti Bolide

The Bolide, priced at a cool $4 million, has been meticulously crafted for the racetrack, with just a limited run of 40 units produced by the French manufacturer.

Under its hood lies a powerful ‘W16’ 16-cylinder engine, boasting a jaw-dropping 1,800+ horsepower. This powerhouse propels the car from a standstill to 100km/h in a mere 2.2 seconds. While it might not match the lightning-fast acceleration of a Tesla Model S Plaid, it has its own claim to fame – it can reach an astounding 500km/h in just 20 seconds.

New Parts | Lego Technic Bugatti

Five new additions have joined the Technic panel family, expanding its range even further.

The picture below showcases the introduction of smaller panels, building on the success of the 5×4 panels from the previous year. Now, we have a compact 3×3 version with a single axle hole at the bottom, labeled as numbers 9 and 10.

Similarly to the panels mentioned earlier, these small 2×3 ones, labeled as numbers 7 and 8, share the same design as the 2×5 version and the recently introduced 71682 PANEL 2X3X1, NO. 1 and 89679 PANEL 2X1X1, NO. 1.

This angled panel is a recent addition to the family of 2-wide panels, specifically labeled as number 3. I’ll need to make sure my history of Technic panels includes all these new additions!

Although it might not appear too thrilling, this part’s debut in yellow is quite remarkable, considering it’s been around for more than two decades.

“As is common with models based on licensed vehicles, it includes a generous sticker sheet. However, you can skip applying most of them without a significant impact if you prefer

The parts come organized in bags labeled one through four, and the images below display the build’s status at the completion of each of these sections.

The W16 engine is mimicked using a central camshaft that connects to the rear axle. As you push the car, you’ll notice 16 3-long axles moving up and down, just like in the real engine.

It’s interesting that there’s a CSR Racing and LEGO logo on the side.

The completed model

This model measures approximately 30cm in length and 12cm in width, making it identical in size to the 42123 McLaren Senna GTR and sharing the same 1:16 scale.

The front wheel arches feature yellow patches and the distinctive ‘X’ shaped headlights. Some may find the print a bit thin, but this appears to be a recurring issue when working with dark plastic. It seems the lessons from the early days of the company, like the ‘third coat of varnish’ tale, haven’t been fully absorbed!

I believe the designers have done an impressive job capturing the car’s shape, thanks in part to the new panel elements. It’s worth noting that they’ve achieved this with minimal use of traditional System pieces.

In terms of functionality, it boasts a ‘functional’ engine, front wheel steering operated by the gear on the roof, and doors that open to reveal the interior with its dashboard and steering wheel. Considering its size, it offers everything you’d reasonably expect.

In summary, it’s a skillfully crafted model of a car that suits the angular Technic elements quite well. I appreciate the striking black and yellow ‘Blacktron’ design, although the black color can make it challenging to appreciate the car’s curves and details unless under good lighting.

However, it’s a representation of a rather obscure car, one that likely isn’t on the radar of many, if any. Perhaps that’s the idea behind it: to offer those who may never own a Bugatti a chance to experience it in a different way. Personally, I would have preferred something more recognizable and less niche (yes, I did look up that synonym…).

To be frank, the new pieces are what excite me the most about this set.
